Common Defects of Roll of Aluminum Coil

roll of aluminum coil

A roll of aluminum coil refers to a product obtained by calendering and stretch bending of aluminium aluminum ingots with machines like casting mills and stretchers. It serves as a raw material for a wide range of industries, including electronics, packing, machinery etc. In the past years China aluminum coil industry has made eye-catching progress in technology and process with the country’s development in science and economy. Nevertheless, some quality defects are still inevitable.

Common defects of roll of aluminum coil include edge warping, level splitting, color difference, peeling of composite layer and roll loosening. Edge warping usually appears after a roll is cast or cut. It’s mostly caused by remaining mechanical press in the roll. One of our clients purchased 3005 aluminum coil from us just because he was provided with rolls of seriously warping edges by a former supplier. The irregular splitting among sections of rolls may lead to level splitting. Color difference is caused by periodical printing of irregular colors of the roller surface onto the roll surface. These irregular colors are further caused by winkled or broken narrow rolls. The peeling of composite layer refers to the phenomenon that the aluminum composite layer peels off the base plate. Roll loosening is caused in the process of rolling up and opening of a roll of aluminum coil. The problem will influence the whole roll sometimes. No matter what the defect is, the key to avoiding it lies in careful raw material selection, strict process control and standard quality inspection.
